Google's dictionary define's fractal as "a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation."
I'm listening to a sermon wherein the pastor is talking about Jesus' parable of a wedding feast where he said "the Kingdom of Heaven is like (a King getting a bride for his son)." He was talking about it in the sense that all of creation has been about God getting a bride for Jesus. Then I thought about how many theologians talks about the "red thread" and how the Bible is just the telling and retelling of the story of salvation. Then I talk about my car (a gold, hybrid, Toyota Prius) who I named Rebecca after Isaac's wife in the Bible. I thought about how her story is about a a powerful man (Abraham) getting a wife for his son (Isaac). It was that story that led me to name my car Rebecca. It was Rebecca's obedience to and confidence in the Will of God which led her to go above and beyond for the sake of what was God's call for her that led me to name my car after her.
It reminded me of the fractal nature of things….the idea that all things are a fractal of all other things.
That reminded me of this.
