The Fractal Nature of the God's Universe

Google's dictionary define's fractal as "a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation."

I'm listening to a sermon wherein the pastor is talking about Jesus' parable of a wedding feast where he said "the Kingdom of Heaven is like (a King getting a  bride for his son)." He was talking about it in the sense that all of creation has been about God getting a bride for Jesus. Then I thought about how many theologians talks about the "red thread" and how the Bible is just the telling and retelling of the story of salvation. Then I talk about my car (a gold, hybrid, Toyota Prius) who I named Rebecca after Isaac's wife in the Bible. I thought about how her story is about a a powerful man (Abraham) getting a wife for his son (Isaac). It was that story that led me to name my car Rebecca. It was Rebecca's obedience to and confidence in the Will of God which led her to go above and beyond for the sake of what was God's call for her that led me to name my car after her.

It reminded me of the fractal nature of things….the idea that all things are a fractal of all other things.

That reminded me of this.

Musings on the nature and scalability of "truth" and the "The New Black"

These were my reflections after I saw an article that somehow Pharrell "Happy" Williams has repurposed Blackness and made it "new"…somehow. See the following article for details: http://thegrio.com/2015/04/03/the-new-black-wont-save-you-racism/

Again, I'm not a race bater (I don't talk about it much in polite company), but I like to think deeply about particular issues on a critical level. It has been my tendency and my nature, and I have been unsuccessful in resisting my inclination to ponder in this way. So, forgive me if I offend you. Jesus will reward you for it. ;-)

MY MUSINGS

Let's not talk about certain ideas, because talking about the idea gives it power; but ignoring the idea makes it go away….

There are many "truths" that remain true both on the micro and macro levels. Then there are truths that are not scalable. The laws of Physics stop holding true when you get down to the quantum side of things. The above "truth" seems to sort of hold true for individuals dealing with certain types of conflicts in certain circumstances.

For example, select conflicts that happen within confined boundaries like familial disputes within a home environment (we don't talk about Uncle Ben's dark past, etc.).

What if you are the only minority in a particular environment. After working with them for a year or two, you have all gotten to know each other and "race" is no longer an issue between you guys. You continue to thrive in this environment and then assume you have the formula for all other people perceived to be in your situation.

"Let's not talk about race," you say, "because talking about race gives racism power. If we ignore the idea of race, people won't have that to use as a weapon. It worked for me."

"How did it work for you?" asks a curious colleague.

"Well, when I stopped thinking about myself as a victim, everything got better."

"Hmmm…." says the colleague. "So, you're saying that if we outlawed references to 'race' and 'racism' and encouraged people in impoverished neighborhoods and countries to stop playing the victim, everything would somehow 'get better'?"

Is Redefinition the answer?

So, maybe ignoring the issue is not the answer.
There is a school of thought (I can't remember if it's in cognitive behavioral therapy) that encourages people who are struggling with depression or other forms of negative thought patterns to challenge those limiting beliefs (or "automatic negative thoughts").
So, if your tendency is to think "I'm a loser", this method suggests you challenge that thought with redefinition, or disproving the idea.

I prefer prayer. #teamJesus

Disclaimer: I don't know what the point of this was. Just rambling, I guess. :-p

Marriage and Family as Physical Vehicles of Blessing Propagation

I wonder what the formula for marriage and family would look like.
Based on the following Facebook comment I made, what do I believe about it?

""I'm not sure people these days really understand the purpose of marriage from a societal, wealth, positioning standpoint. " ….#preachsista I feel like people elevate marriage with this hollywoodized "love" fantasy that is a fairy tale. Love is an action, not a noun! Marriage and the family were established as a vehicle to pass down blessings, not as a feel good event. *smh* #disgusted"

I guess the bond of marriage…the covenant could lead to the creation of very strong bonds (soul ties if you will). The question becomes, can you measure the strength of the force of these bonds (like the bonds with which electrons and protons are connected) and how much force would be required to separate these bonds, and what kind of energy would be released were these bonds to be broken. Woo! That's an exciting concept worth exploring.

Then there's the vehicle…the "substance" of marriage and the family…
If they are a vehicle for passing down blessings, they must possess properties that make the transference of the substance of a blessing possible.

So, the physical question would be, what is the substance of the blessing?
How is it propagated?
What are the qualities of the family and marriage unit that make the propagation possible?

Society would be smarter with no school

I hope to prove some day with the Physics of Life and Love that society would be smarter if school didn't exist.

That would require me to prove that the social environment of school is counter productive to learning.
